Sharon Whittaker is a producer and co-founder of YOLKFILMS. Before launching the company with Ben, she spent several years at Belfast-based DoubleBand Films, producing returnable series to one-off documentaries for UK broadcasters.

Sharon’s work is shaped by strong journalistic instincts, compelling narrative structure, and a deep commitment to contributor trust. She specialises in sensitive, character-led films that bring clarity and emotional depth to complex subject matter, and has experience across development, production and delivery.

She moved into documentary filmmaking following a career in PR and communications focused on youth justice, children’s rights and care-experienced young people - themes that continue to inform her storytelling.

At Yolk, Sharon is driven by a pursuit of excellence, creating bold, purposeful documentaries that connect with diverse audiences and resonate beyond the screen.
